The bulb received is slightly longer than the original Nikon bulb and also has the tip of the glass bulb somewhat less rounded than the original. Consequently, the metal shield that fits over the bulb does not cover it entirely and there is some extraneous stray light that shows up in the slit lamp field. Work at a busy Optometrist office, had a slit lamb bulb burn out with no spare...and having an exam lane down is not good for business. Found this site that had the exact manufacturer bulb we needed nearly 40% cheaper than other sites. Ordered it at 3ish pm and paid for overnight shipping, had it by 10am the next day, and I was fully expecting to wait another day for it to arrive since it was ordered late in the day. I recently ordered an inexpensive light bulb, which was good, but the shipping was more than twice the cost and it was slow. It arrived in an over sized box with lots of padding. I think a simple padded envelope would have done the trick for a much cheaper shipping cost. Went to replace the bulb in our slit lamp (which they take years to go out) and the replacement was incorrect. Oh no! What to do? Hopped online ordered two bulbs of the correct kind. Bite the bullet pay the overnight (thinking it would not be that Wednesday but Thursday since it after noon). But lo and behold that Wednesday the bulbs come in that next morning and our slit lamp is back up and running. Making for happy Doctors. Way to costly for a Bulb that has to be replaced to frequently. Average life span is maybe 3 weeks.Reply from Lite Source Inc: We are sorry to hear that you are disappointed in the Neitz L-11 bulb. This particular lamp is a Neitz OEM that they provide for their radiuscope. Unfortunately, we have yet to find a generic equivalent that performs in this piece of equipment. Although Neitz doesn't provide any life warranty on their bulbs, the lamp should last longer than 3 weeks. If the problems persists, we suggest having a technician take a look at the machine to make sure there are no other problems going on. We value your business and thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback.
