How long has Lite Source been in business?
Lite Source has been supplying eye care professionals and medical practices for over 40 years. Founded in Louisville, Kentucky, we've grown from a specialty bulb and battery supplier into a full-service eye care supply and diagnostic equipment distributor — while staying independently owned and operated. We are a certified Women's Business Enterprise (WBENC), and we take pride in the kind of personal service and deep product expertise that larger distributors simply cannot offer.
What does Lite Source specialize in?
Lite Source specializes in ophthalmic and eye care supplies — including diagnostic equipment, instrument bulbs and batteries, ophthalmic exam supplies, and small diagnostic instruments in the $100–$10,000 range. We serve optometrists, ophthalmologists, and ophthalmic practices across the United States. While we supply other medical specialties as well, eye care is our core focus and where our deepest expertise lies. We know the brands, the equipment, and the needs of eye care practices better than any general medical distributor.

Can Lite Source compete on pricing with large distributors like McKesson, Amazon or Henry Schein?
Yes - in many cases our prices beat large distributor pricing while maintaining a high level of personalized support. Lite Source has GPO (Group Purchasing Organization) options on popular supplies by Metrex or Dukal and Welch Allyn products for customers that qualify. We have direct distributor relationships with key eye care manufacturers including Reichert, Haag-Streit and Heine. Because we operate lean and focus on the eye care space, we can offer competitive pricing without the overhead of a national sales force. Do you accept purchase orders from medical practices or institutions?
Yes - Lite Source accepts purchase orders from established medical practices, hospitals, clinics, and educational institutions. To set up a credit account with Net 30 terms, download and complete our credit application or contact us if you have any questions. Government and institutional orders are welcome. For large orders or multi-unit equipment purchases, contact us directly for volume pricing.
Do you offer volume or bulk pricing discounts?
Yes. Many of our consumables have quantity and bulk pricing listed on the product page. For larger quantity orders on supplies, consumables, and equipment, contact us. We work with multi-location practices, group purchasing organizations, and institutional buyers regularly and can structure pricing accordingly.
Can I get a price quote before ordering?
Absolutely. Pricing for most stocked items is listed on the product page, including items that already have bulk or quantity pricing. For volume orders, equipment bundles, or if you would like a side-by-side comparison against your current supplier's pricing, contact us or chat live during regular business hours. We will provide a formal quote and will do our best to earn your business.
Can I get N30 payment terms on my account?
New customers and inactive customers will need to fill out a credit application in order to get on account terms. Click here to access the application.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards, purchase orders from approved accounts, Amazon Pay, PayPal, and ACH/check payments. To apply for a Net 30 credit account, download the credit application here and return it to us. For government orders, we can accommodate standard government purchasing processes, including government-issued P-Cards.

Shipping & Delivery
How quickly do you ship orders?
In-stock orders placed before 3:30 PM Eastern time typically ship same business day. We ship via UPS and USPS with standard, expedited, and overnight options available at checkout. Most US destinations receive standard orders within 1 - 5 business days. For urgent orders or equipment needed before a specific date, chat with us or call during regular business hours and we will do everything we can to accommodate your timeline.
How do I track my order?
Once your order ships, a tracking number will be emailed to the email address on file. You can also log in to your Lite Source account at litesourceinc.com to view order status and tracking information. If you have questions about a shipment, chat live during regular business hours or contact us.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes - Lite Source ships internationally. International orders may be subject to additional shipping costs, customs duties, and import taxes depending on the destination country. Contact us or chat before placing an international order and we can confirm shipping options, estimated costs, and any product-specific export restrictions. You will need to provide your VAT, BN or other country-specific tax ID at checkout. As the international export regulations are changing rapidly, some countries have restrictions that may arise during the shipping process that we may have to contact you about. Rest assured, we will do everything we can to get your item to you, quickly and in the most cost-effective way.
Returns & Warranty
What is your return policy?
Lite Source accepts returns on most items within 30 days of purchase in original, unused condition. Returns may be subject to a restocking fee depending on the item and manufacturer. Equipment that has been used or removed from original packaging cannot be returned unless there is a manufacturer defect. To initiate a return, call 800-523-0860 or email us before sending anything back - we will provide a Return Authorization (RA) number and ensure your return is processed smoothly. What happens if a product I receive is defective?
If products are defective, contact us immediately at 800-523-0860 within 30 days of the original invoice. For manufacturer defects, we will work directly with the manufacturer on your behalf to arrange a replacement or warranty service.Â
What do I do if the package is delivered damaged?
Accept the package, if it is safe to do so and contact us immediately. If there is any damage to the product due to mishandling by the shipper, do not discard outer packaging. The shipper will not issue credit without inspection.
Do diagnostic instruments come with a manufacturer warranty?
Yes - all new diagnostic instruments sold by Lite Source come with the manufacturer's standard warranty. We sell only new equipment direct from the manufacturer. We do not sell 3rd party, old or used equipment that would jeopardize the maximum warranty. Warranty terms vary by manufacturer and product. If you have an issue with a piece of equipment that you purchased through us and it is still under the manufacturer's warranty, contact us and we will help facilitate the replacement or repair.

How do I know which bulb or battery fits my equipment?
The easiest way is to search by equipment brand and model number on our website - we organize bulbs and batteries by both brand and equipment type. You can also call us at 800-523-0860 or chat live during regular business hours. If you provide us with your equipment's brand and model number and we will identify the correct part immediately Numbers or letters that are printed on the item are also helpful. Our team has 40+ years of experience with ophthalmic and medical equipment and can usually identify the right part from just a model number or description. For more advanced identification, we may ask for a photo of the part.
What is the difference between OEM and equivalent parts?
OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts are made by or supplied by the equipment manufacturer. Equivalent parts meet the same electrical and physical specifications but are produced by a third-party manufacturer — typically at a considerable cost savings with no meaningful difference in performance for most applications. Lite Source clearly labels all products as OEM or equivalent so you always know exactly what you are ordering. We also maintain strict quality controls around our equivalents and will only supply the highest quality products. As technology changes and manufacturers cease part production, sometimes an equivalent is the only option available.Â
